Haas was in the passenger seat of a Ferrari which crashed into a BMW in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood at 6.30pm local time on Tuesday evening. The 71-year-old driver of the Ferrari, a member of the family whom Haas and his family were staying for the upcoming Genesis Open tournament, was pronounced dead at the scene. Haas, who is ranked 67 in the world, has been released from hospital after suffering no broken bones in the crash. The 50-year-old female driver of the BMW remains in a serious condition. His father told the Golf Channel his son was "very fortunate" and expects him to make a full recovery. The Ferrari was "travelling at speed" say police and flipped multiple times following the collision. Footage from the scene shows the mangled wreckage of the car which suffered significant frontal damage.
