Joy in Nobel winner Malala's hometown, though some Pakistanis decry her Posted: 30 Mar 2018 11:05 PM PDT By Asif Shahzad MINGORA, Pakistan (Reuters) - In the Pakistani hometown of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, reminders are frequent of the daughter of scenic northwestern Swat Valley who survived a gun attack – and so are memories of harsh rule by the Taliban. Yousafzai flew into Swat on Saturday by helicopter during her first visit to Pakistan since the Pakistani Taliban - now on the run but still able to launch attacks - shot her in the head in 2012 over her advocacy for girls' education and opposition to Islamist militancy. Yousafzai's return to her hometown was eagerly awaited by admirers and family friends. |

Kosovo investigates seizure of Turkish nationals Posted: 31 Mar 2018 08:13 AM PDT By Fatos Bytyci PRISTINA (Reuters) - Kosovo authorities are investigating the arrest and extradition of six Turkish citizens, which activists said represented a violation of human rights, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said on Saturday. The six Turkish nationals were arrested in Kosovo on Thursday at Turkey's request over alleged links to schools financed by the Gulen movement, which Ankara blames for a failed 2016 coup. "Today we have decided to start an investigation of all (state) structures that were involved in arresting and deporting the six Turkish men," Haradinaj said after an urgent meeting of Kosovo's security council. |

Last eastern Ghouta rebels poised to surrender: Syrian state media Posted: 01 Apr 2018 08:47 AM PDT By Suleiman Al-Khalidi AMMAN (Reuters) - The group in control of the last rebel bastion near Damascus appeared on Sunday to have agreed a deal for its fighters to make peace with the government or quit the eastern Ghouta enclave, Syrian state media said on Sunday. Jaish al Islam, most of whose members are drawn from the area, has been defending the city of Douma against a months-long onslaught by government forces. If confirmed, its surrender or departure for rebel-held areas in northwest Syria would herald an end to large-scale conflict in the enclave. |

Leftist looms large as Mexico presidential race opens Posted: 30 Mar 2018 11:00 AM PDT The campaign for Mexico's July 1 presidential election officially opened Friday, with Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, a veteran leftist promising a sharp break with the past, positioned as the man to beat. "AMLO," as he is widely known, has a double-digit lead at the start of the race to succeed President Enrique Pena Nieto, whose popularity has been flayed by corruption scandals, a seemingly hopeless war on drug cartels and record-shattering crime that has left a trail of bodies in its wake. |

Abandoned death trap funeral home Posted: 01 Apr 2018 04:47 AM PDT The abandoned Moulton and Kyle Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Fla., which is more than 150 years old, was left to rot, with the premises eerily strewn with open caskets, a hearse and embalming chemicals. Much like the corpses that were laid to rest, the remains of this building too are slowly decomposing and decaying. Black mold has engulfed the walls, and chipped tiles from the collapsed ceilings cover many of the floors. See more news-related photo galleries and follow us on Yahoo News Photo Twitter and Tumblr. Trump says Mexico not stopping cross-border flow, threatens NAFTA Posted: 01 Apr 2018 08:36 AM PDT US President Donald Trump accused Mexico on Sunday of doing "very little" to stop the flow of people across the US border, and threatened to target the North American Free Trade Agreement in retaliation. "Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws. "They must stop the big drug and people flows, or I will stop their cash cow, NAFTA. |

South Korea Is Deploying Hyper-Precise Missiles to Protect Seoul from North Korea Posted: 01 Apr 2018 05:08 AM PDT South Korea's government would like nothing better than a peaceful, no-drama relationship with North Korea, and the administration of President Moon Jae-in clearly hopes that new talks with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un may de-escalate tensions. North Korea maintain hundreds of long-range Koksan 170-millimeter self-propelled guns, and 240- and 300-millimeter multiple rocket launchers capable of striking Seoul. |

The freak accident in Indore on Saturday evening is the latest building disaster in a country infamous for poor construction and safety standards. The driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a pillar holding up the near 100-year-old structure, said police deputy inspector general Harinarayanchari Mishra. |
Trump supporter Malloch says he will testify to Mueller grand jury Posted: 30 Mar 2018 04:50 PM PDT By Mark Hosenball WASHINGTON (Reuters) - An American academic who supports U.S. President Donald Trump and is a strong advocate of Britain's exit from the European Union will testify next month before the federal grand jury considering evidence in the investigation into possible collusion between Trump's 2016 election campaign and Russia. Theodore Malloch, the author of a forthcoming pro-Trump book and an ally of Nigel Farage, a former leader of Britain's UK Independence Party, said in a statement emailed to Reuters on Friday by the book's publisher that he was questioned by FBI agents when he landed at Boston's Logan International Airport on Tuesday after a flight from London and served with a subpoena to appear before the grand jury. |

How on earth did that cat stack between doors? That's weird. Well, we've seen animals and objects stack in much more weird places so... I just can't get how it happens. Like really, how?
